My Take

One of the ideas that we talk about often is freedom. This book is a book about freedom. It’s not a self-help book. This book will not cause you to find your personal life purpose. However, what this book will do is open up your mind to understand the external challenges and innermost needs of ourselves. Far too often, we sabotage ourselves through fear, doubt, worry and other personal struggles that we believe are unique to each of us. 

From one crucial insight to another, Brianna Weist does a marvelous job of weaving fact with nuance in this original work that truly changes the way you think about yourself.

How The Mountain Is You Changed My Life

I began reading this book at a pretty unique point in my life. Late-30’s with a growing family and a job title that was equally exciting and pressure-filled. My family and I enjoyed a week in Durango, Colorado of which provided the impetus for purchasing The Mountain is You. 

As I began slowly dissecting the words I was reading, I couldn’t help but reminnisce about how much I was nodding my head in agreement with what was being spoken to me audibly and visually. (Caveat: I listened and read at the same time). 

There were so many aspects that applied to me throughout the first chapter. I took note after note. I began to realize that self-sabotage was actually a thing I had done time and time again. The mindset shifts that had occurred over the years began slowly but surely towards the attitudes that would ultimately work against me. 

I had to understand that happiness was not a title, accomplishment, or growth. Happiness was simply a feeling and emotion that came from living on purpose with a purpose that was greater than myself.
