Introduction to Bible Verses About Surrendering To God

Have you ever felt like the weight of the world is on your shoulders in your battle with the outcomes of your dreams, decisions and desires? If you answered no, you are one of the fortunate ones! So many of us struggle to let go of the outcomes of our lives. We grip our dreams and desires so tightly because we simply don’t believe that God’s plan is greater than ours. What if I were to tell you that when we choose our own will above the Father’s will, we’re missing out on even more of what I call “the good life” than we could ever imagine? Well, in the following Bible verses about surrendering to God, we will discover what this actually looks like!

In this post, we’re going to dive in to a whole bunch of bibles verses about surrendering to God.

What do I mean by surrendering? I mean allowing God’s sovereignty to take over all of our dreams and desires. True surrender means forfeiting all of our desired outcomes. Our own plans that we concoct in our head simply can’t compare to the perfect plan brought forth by God’s wisdom.

Complete Surrender

So what does complete surrender mean then? Simply put, it means letting go of all expectations for your future results and placing them in the hand of the one who created everything that exists. Let’s take your wildest dreams and desires for instance. What is that one thing that you desire more than anything to accomplish in your life?

For me, that’s a really large Colorado ranch-style property with all kinds of really cool structures that allows people to gather. Ideally, it’s known as Rugged Face Ranch. That’s been my dream for the past 4 years. Total surrender of this dream means letting go of all the outcomes associated with this dream as well as living in daily surrender of the plan by which this dream will be attained.

In doing so, I’m removing all control from myself to create this property. Further, I’m eliminating the pressure from the day-to-day toll the dream is taking on me. I’m putting all of this on God and choosing a life of surrender rather than a life of constant pressure.

Why Sacrifice our Own Desires?

This was a question I have to ask almost every day. I fail to remember that God actually wants to see our desires come to fruition. Sometimes I just don’t believe that our dreams are important in the grand scheme of things. Breaking news: They are. The sacrificing of our dreams allows God to do things in us and through that are only possible when we choose to let go of control.

Do we trust Him enough? Do we utilize the dreams we have as an act of worship or act of faith? Are our dreams so big that God is truly the only one that can make them come true?

If you choose to sacrifice your own desires for the desires of the Father, you will find that your dreams will change. Your plans will be altered. Your life will very different. Fortunately, you will never look back. Nor will you even remember what you desired in the first place. God will reveal to you a new plan and a new path. It may look similar, but it will be very different in the long run. This is the beauty of surrender. It’s not up to you!

So let’s dive in to the first set of bible verses about surrendering to God! You can find each of these verses at Bible Gateway!
